Epting <br />Councilmember Leonard moved to approve the Consent Agenda items pursuant to staff <br />recommendations. Councilmember Clausen seconded. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY 8/0. <br />Councilmember Earp was absent. <br />7. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION <br />(a) Discussion and possible action regarding appointment to fill one vacancy on the La Porte <br />Development Corporation Board of Directors — P. Fogarty <br />City Secretary Patrice Fogarty presented a summary. <br />Councilmember Zemanek moved to appoint Shelley Fuller to fill the vacancy on the La Porte <br />Development Corporation Board, said vacancy being created when Mike Cooksley resigned. <br />Councilmember Leonard seconded. MOTION PASSED. <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Zemanek, Kaminski, Leonard, Clausen, K. <br />Martin and Engelken <br />Nays: Mayor Rigby and Councilmember J. Martin <br />Absent: Councilmember Earp <br />8. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />There were no reports. <br />9. COUNCIL COMMENTS regarding matters appearing on the agenda; recognition of community <br />members, city employees, and upcoming events; inquiry of staff regarding specific factual <br />information. <br />Councilmember Kaminski congratulated the family on the tribute to Rose Hall Day; and the <br />proclamations regarding Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Fair Housing Month in the City of <br />La Porte. Councilmember Zemanek recognized the honor of Rose Hall and the tribute from City <br />employees to help honor her by proclaiming a Rose Hall Day. Councilmember Leonard stated it <br />was nice to see employees wearing purple to represent Rose, and remarked that the likeness of <br />Rose's 3D image etched in the crystal gift from the family is amazing will be well received at City <br />Hall. Councilmember Engelken stated if you look up class in the dictionary, you will see Rose's <br />picture. She was a good ambassador for the City. Her legacy will live on in the City of La Porte; <br />Councilmember Clausen agreed with everything that was said about Ms. Rose. Councilmember J. <br />Martin stated he was really pleased with the turnout for Rose, that she was a great friend and dear <br />lady, and was quite the role model for any person interested in being a class act. He thanked <br />Amanda Barfield-Kastl for her comments, stating that it is good to hear positive things about our <br />police department; and he welcomed back Mayor Rigby, stating the Mayor had a rough week, and <br />he is glad to have him back. Councilmember K. Martin stated Rose was very rare, and the City was <br />fortunate to have had her working here. She also said she is glad to have the Mayor back and to <br />take it easy. Mayor Rigby commented about Rose Hall that it is rare to find someone loved by so <br />many for so long.
