<br />~ <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. l466-A <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE 2, SECTIONS 25-23, and <br />25-24, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF DESIGNATING MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS UPON THE STREETS OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: FOR THE FURTHER PURPOSE OF SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATING <br />SCHOOL ZONES AND THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS APPLYING TO SAID SCHOOL <br />ZONES AT TIMES SPECIFIED HEREIN: AND FURTHER PROVIDING THAT THE <br />CHIEF OF POLICE BE AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO POST SIGNS AT BOTH <br />ENDS OF SPECIAL SPEED ZONES CREATED HEREIN IN SAID SPEED ZONES: PRO- <br />VIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL <br />BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED <br />IN A SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS: PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE: FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETING LAW: AND PROVIDING <br />FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section l: Section 25-23 of the Code of Ordinances of the City <br /> <br />of La Porte, Sub-paragraph (d), "Maximum Limtis in School Zones,", is <br /> <br />amended, by adding thereto, a Sub-paragraph (x), which shall read as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />"(x) Along North "L" Street, from a point l75 feet <br />west of Mockingbird Lane, to a point 65 feet <br />east of Meadowlark Lane, a distance of l,450 <br />feet, .27 miles. II <br /> <br />Section 2. Section 25-23 of the Code of Ordinances of the City <br /> <br />of La Porte, Sub-paragraph (g), "Thirty-five Mile Per Hour Zones", is <br /> <br />amended by deleting and repealing the present Sub-paragraph (g) (5) <br />and by adding to Sub-paragraph (g), a new Sub-paragraph (5), to read <br /> <br />as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />"(5) Along North "L" Street from a point 545 feet east <br />of Alvy Lane to the east right-of-way line of <br />Underwood Road, a distance of 7,542 feet, l.42 <br />miles. II <br /> <br />section 3. Any person, as defined in Section 1.07 (27), Texas <br /> <br />Penal Code, who shall violate any provision of this ordinance, shall <br /> <br />be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished <br /> <br />by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). <br /> <br />Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict <br /> <br />herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict only. <br />
