<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />-9- <br /> <br />Efficiencv Apartment: An apartment without a bedroom separate from <br />other living quarters. <br /> <br />Enforcin~ Officer: The Chief Building Official of the City of La Porte <br />or his designated representative. <br /> <br />Family: A "family" is any number of related persons or, not more than <br />four (4) unrelated persons living as a single housekeeping unit. <br /> <br />Fence: A man-made structural barrier erected on or around a piece of <br />property or any portion thereof. <br /> <br />Floor Area: The sum total area of all floors as calculated from <br />measurements to the outside walls. <br /> <br />Foundation System: An assembly of materials constructed below, or <br />partially below-grade, not intended to be removed from its installation <br />site, which is designed to support the structure and engineered to <br />resist the imposition of exterior natural forces, as defined by the <br />Southern Standard Building Code. Such foundation system shall be <br />skirted or enclosed with wood, or masonry to give the appearance of a <br />solid foundation, if one is not provided, compatible with the appearance <br />of adjacent housing. <br /> <br />Freestanding Sign: An outdoor sign supported by uprights or braces <br />placed in or upon the ground, or mounted on a vehicle, trailer, or <br />mobile structure principally used for the purpose of advertising or <br />display of information. For the purpose of this ordinance, a portable <br />sign shall be considered to be a freestanding sign. <br /> <br />Garage, Private: A "private garage" is an accessory building designed <br />or used for the storage of motor vehicle owned and used by the occupants <br />of the building to which it is an accessory. <br /> <br />Garage, Public: A "public garage" is a building or portion thereof, <br />other than a private or storage garage, designed or used for servicing, <br />repairing, equipping, hiring, selling, or storing motor driven vehicles. <br /> <br />Glare: Emitted light which exceeds sixty (60) footcandles. <br /> <br />Grade: A referenced plane representing the average of finished ground <br />level adjoining the building and all exterior walls. <br /> <br />Grand Opening: The formal offering by a new business of its goods, <br />wares, merchandise, service, entertainment, or activity. <br /> <br />Greenway Corridor: A publicly owned system of trails and walkways, <br />patterned in the open space and pedestrian system plan, and is <br />designated on the land use map, park zone map, and zoning map of the <br />City of La Porte, that link existing and proposed neighborhood, <br />community, and regional parks with each other and other proposed <br />acti vi ty areas of the City. These trails and walkways, are in the ir <br />majority within existing right-of-way, but may be within proposed <br />right-of-way to be acquired by the City of La Porte. Greenway corridors <br />are a special use site, as said special use site is defined in the City <br />of La Porte Development Ordinance, Section 12.07. <br />
