<br />'. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. l50l, Page 2 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte, pursuant to <br /> <br />the provisions of Article lOllf of the Revised Civil Statutes of the <br /> <br /> <br />State of Texas, has appointed a Planning and Zoning Commission to <br /> <br /> <br />recommend the boundaries of the various original districts and the <br /> <br /> <br />appropriate regulations to be enforced therein; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of La <br /> <br />porte has divided the City of La Porte into land use districts and <br /> <br /> <br />has prepared regulations in accordance with the provisions of the <br /> <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan of the City of La Porte, as adopted by said Planning <br /> <br /> <br />and Zoning Commission of the City of La Porte, specifically designed <br /> <br /> <br />to lessen congestion in the streets, to secure safety from fire, <br /> <br /> <br />panic, and other dangers; to promote health and the general welfare; <br /> <br /> <br />to provide adequate light and air; to prevent the overcrowding of <br /> <br /> <br />land; to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the <br /> <br /> <br />adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage, schools, parks, <br /> <br />and other public requirements; and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has in all respects <br /> <br /> <br />given reasonable consideration to the character of the land use <br /> <br /> <br />districts and their peculiar suitability for particular land uses, <br /> <br />and with a view to conserving the value of buildings and encouraging <br /> <br /> <br />the most appropriate use of land throughout the City of La Porte; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has made a Preliminary <br /> <br /> <br />Report on the text of the Zoning Ordinance, and after due notice has <br /> <br /> <br />been given, a certified copy of which is attached to this ordinance as <br /> <br />Exhibit "A", attached hereto and fully incorporated by reference here- <br /> <br /> <br />in, has held a lawfully constituted public hearing on said preliminary <br /> <br /> <br />Report on the text of the Zoning Ordinance, said hearing being held <br /> <br />the 15th day of August, 1985, at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall of the <br /> <br /> <br />City of La Porte, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Harris County, <br /> <br /> <br />Texas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, subsequent to said public hearing, the Planning and <br /> <br /> <br />Zoning Commission of the City of La Porte, has, by letter dated <br /> <br />~ <br />
