<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 95-2014 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A <br />PORTION 01' STATE HIGHWAY 225 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS 01' LA <br />PORTE; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public <br />Transportation has made it known to the City of La Porte that <br /> <br />operations will begin in the near future to make improvements along <br /> <br />State Highway 225; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic <br /> <br />investigation, the State Department of Highways and Public <br /> <br />Transportation has requested the City of La Porte, upon authority <br /> <br />vested in said City in Vernons civil statutes, Article 6701d, <br />S169(a), to establish a temporary construction speed zone during <br /> <br />the construction period of said improvements; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 01' THE CITY <br /> <br />01' LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />That a construction speed zone be established <br /> <br />along the named highways or parts thereof described as follows: <br />Along state Highway 225 from state Highway 134 to state <br />Highway 146, a temporary speed limit of 45 MPH, shall be in effect <br />when so signed within said zone. <br />Section 2. Necessary signs for posting the speed zones will <br /> <br />be furnished, installed, and maintained by the direction of the <br /> <br />State Department of Highways and Public Transportation engineer in <br /> <br />charge of the project. <br /> <br />Section 3 . <br /> <br />Any person violating the provisions of this <br /> <br />ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed <br /> <br />two hundred dollars ($200.00). <br />
