Box 271389 Houston, Texas 77277-1389 RE: Current Lease - Temporary Extension Dear Ms. Blanchard: An amended lease agreement between the City of La Porte and Neighborhood Centers Inc. (NCI) was approved by City Council per Ordinance #99-2339 on July 12, 1999. As stated in this amended lease agreement, "The term of the lease shall continue until the City of La Porte has completed its move to its p'lanned new library building on South Broadway in La Porte, and vacated the J>resent Edith Wilson Library building on San Jacinto Street in La Porte. The City of La Porte and Neighborhood Centers, Inc., will enter into negotiations, at that time, as to the terms and provisions of a lease agreement between the City of La Porte and Neighborhood Centers, Inc., on the San Jacinto Street library building. This move should take place by January 2001. If the move has not occurred, this lease will be extended at that time." The City of La Porte proposes to extend this lease agreement until August I, 2001, or until such time as the new La Porte Community Library construction is completed and Harris County has vacated the building at 526 San Jacinto Street. Currently, the estimated completion date is between mid-May and mid-July. I appreciate NCI' s cooperation with this project and look forward to continuing our joint venture that benefits the citizens of our community.
