Box 271389 <br />Houston, Texas 77277-1389 <br /> <br />RE: Current Lease - Temporary Extension <br /> <br />Dear Ms. Blanchard: <br /> <br />An amended lease agreement between the City of La Porte and Neighborhood Centers Inc. (NCI) <br />was approved by City Council per Ordinance #99-2339 on July 12, 1999. <br /> <br />As stated in this amended lease agreement, "The term of the lease shall continue until the City of <br />La Porte has completed its move to its p'lanned new library building on South Broadway in La Porte, <br />and vacated the J>resent Edith Wilson Library building on San Jacinto Street in La Porte. The City of <br />La Porte and Neighborhood Centers, Inc., will enter into negotiations, at that time, as to the terms <br />and provisions of a lease agreement between the City of La Porte and Neighborhood Centers, Inc., on <br />the San Jacinto Street library building. This move should take place by January 2001. If the move <br />has not occurred, this lease will be extended at that time." <br /> <br />The City of La Porte proposes to extend this lease agreement until August I, 2001, or until such time <br />as the new La Porte Community Library construction is completed and Harris County has vacated the <br />building at 526 San Jacinto Street. Currently, the estimated completion date is between mid-May and <br />mid-July. <br /> <br />I appreciate NCI' s cooperation with this project and look forward to continuing our joint venture that <br />benefits the citizens of our community. <br /> <br />If you are in agreement with this proposal, please sign both originals keeping one (1) for your file and <br />returning one (1) to the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />Yours very truly, <br /> <br />By: <br /> <br />CITY OF LAPORTE <br />G~~ <br />Robert T.
