Finance Director/ACM <br /> <br />_ REPORT; _ RESOLUTION; .lQL ORDINANCE; <br /> <br />At the October 26th City Council Meeting, the Council passed a resolution calling for an election <br />to occur on January 16, 1999. <br /> <br />There were two main points to be considered in the election. First, the approval to issue General <br />Obligation Bonds in the amount of $3,925,000 to support five propositions, which are: <br /> <br />Proposition 1 - $1,500,000 for an addition to City Hall, <br />Proposition 2 - $750,000 for the replacement of Fire Station Four, <br />Proposition 3 - $750,000 for the replacement of Fire Station Three, <br />Proposition 4 - $675,000 for the repaving of Fifth Street, and <br />Proposition 5 - $250,000 for the replacement of the San Jacinto Swimming Pool. <br /> <br />The second item to be considered in the election is the approval of a Section 48 % Cent Sales <br />Tax to be used for general infrastructure improvements. The first two improvements expected to <br />be completed with the new tax are the public library and the completion of Bay Area Boulevard <br />between Fairmont and Spencer. <br /> <br />Tonight, staff is asking that you approve the ordinances that call the election. <br /> <br />ACTION REQUIRED BY COUNCIL: <br /> <br />Approve this ordinance which calls the January 16, 1999 election for the consideration of a <br />Section 48 % Cent Sales Tax.
