<br />ORDINANCE NO. 98-2258 <br /> <br />-De, b ( Il' AL {#J-x:DA <br />.. pILE;; <br /> <br />C.C..'-~' <br />.~' ~.~ D . <br />:'.. ~ <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN LAND NOW IN THE CORPORATE LIMITS <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AS AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT TO BE <br />KNOWN AS "SOUTH LA PORTE INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT" ; RESERVING AND <br />PRESERVING ALL RIGHTS POWERS AND DUTIES OTHERWISE REPOSING BY LAW <br />IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS <br />CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the established policy of the City Council of <br />the City of La Porte to adopt such reasonable measures from time to <br />time as are permitted by law and which will tend to enhance the <br />economic stability and growth of the City and its environs by <br />attracting the location of new and the expansion of old industries <br />therein; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City council of the City of La Porte after due <br />and careful consideration has heretofore determined that it is in <br />the public interest to disannex the land described in Ordinance No. <br />98-2257, passed and approved May 24, 1999, and to discontinue the <br />corporate limits of the City of La Porte as to such land, and to <br />adopt this Ordinance No. 98-2258, pursuant to section 5, Article I, <br />of the Municipal annexation Act, and to designate that part of the <br />land hereinafter described as an industrial district; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />section 1. The territory described on Exhibit "A" which has <br /> <br />been disannexed by Ordinance No. 98-2257, passed and approved on <br /> <br />May 24, 1999, is hereby designated as an industrial district of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte. <br />section 2. The industrial district designated and established <br /> <br />hereby shall be known as "South La Porte Industrial District". <br /> <br />Section 3. It is hereby declared to be the purpose of the <br />City Council of the City of La Porte, to treat with such area from <br />time to time as may be in the best interest of the City and in the <br /> <br />attraction and maintenance of industry therein. <br />
