Box 1115 <br />La Porte, TX 77572-1115 <br />(281) 470-7275 <br />(281) 470-1361--fax <br /> <br />Location and Geographic Scope of Erosion Problem (map attached): <br />La Porte, Harris County; The project area is located at Little Cedar <br />Bayou at its terminus into Galveston Bay. The project focus area is <br />approximately 900 feet in length. (see attached maps) <br /> <br />Problem Description/Severity of Erosion: <br />The area has lost approximately 33,000 square feet of city owned land, <br />which includes a public park. The estimated erosion rate is 1.5 - 2.0 feet <br />per year. <br /> <br />Presumed Causes: <br />. Subsidence, <br />· Tidal exchange at the mouth of Little Cedar Bayou, <br />· Wind and vessel generated waves. <br /> <br />Desired Outcome (Goals of Project): <br />· Protect the public land, public park, private land and Vista Baywood <br />Apartment complex against threat of further erosion, <br />· Enhance and create wetlands. <br /> <br />Description of Benefits (if Goals of Project are achieved--public, <br />economic and/or natural resource benefits): <br />
