<br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2001-2460-B <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE RE-DISTRICTING COMMITTEE, <br />AND ESTABLISHING ITS POWERS AND DUTIES; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby <br />appoints the following resident of the City of La Porte to the Re- <br /> <br />Districting Committee, to-wit: <br /> <br />District 4: <br /> <br />Jesse L. Wilson <br /> <br />Section 2. Following publication of the 2000 Federal <br /> <br />Census, the Re-Districting Committee shall conduct an investigation <br /> <br />and determine the population of the City, and the population of <br /> <br />each of the districts from which district Councilpersons are <br /> <br />elected. Each such determination shall be based upon the best <br /> <br />available data, including, but not limited to, the 2000 Federal <br /> <br />Census. <br /> <br />Each such determination shall be reported by the Re- <br /> <br />Districting Committee to City Council, which shall express the <br /> <br />results of such determination in an ordinance, which shall be a <br /> <br />final determination for purposes of the Home Rule Charter of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte. <br /> <br />After any such determination, if the <br /> <br />distribution of population among the various districts is <br /> <br />determined by City Council to be materially unbalanced, the Re- <br /> <br />Districting Committee shall, following public notice and an <br />opportunity for public input, recommend to City Council the <br />establishment of new boundaries for the election of district <br /> <br />Councilpersons. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council officially finds, determines, <br />recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, <br /> <br />hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was <br />
