<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />""""'~ <br />(~ <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No 156. <br />:f!=I/=I!=II=II#II=II=fI:IF!I=t'=lI=lF/J=IA~'# <br /> <br />Section One: All elect1,ons shall be held as provided under <br />the General Lans for Elections in Cities. <br />At least Ten (10) days prior to the annual City election, and <br />all Special elections that may be called, the Mayor shall appoint <br />e Presidin8 Officer,which presiding officer shall appoint 2 Judges <br />and 2 Clerks"'to assist him in holding such election. Such Presiding <br />Officer and Judges shall have all the powers and duties of EIGction <br />Officers under the General Laws; and shall receive for their com- <br />pensation the sum of Two (2) ~ollars per day. <br /> <br />Section Two: Of the Five Alderman to be elected at the first <br />election of the City of La Porte under its City Charter, Two shall <br />be elected for. a period of Two yearseach; and Three shall be clectQd <br />, for a period of One year each, and the mode and manner of deciding <br />;' \1hich members shall hold'fol! the long term, and which for the short <br />.J' i' term shall be as follows:- <br />V At the first meeting of the City Council following the election <br />at which time the vote for such election shall be canvassed, the <br />names of the Vive Aldermen who shall have been declared elected <br />.a shall be written on separate pieces of paper, and placed in a hat by <br />~ the City Secretary, and the Mayor elect shall draw from such hat <br />two of such manes, and the Aldermen so named shall hold th"r office <br />for a term of Two years; and the other Three Aldermen shall hold <br />their office tor a term of One Year each; and in each succeed,ing <br />year there shall bo elected Three Aldermen, and "Two Aldermon respec- <br />tively as their term may expire, which Aldermen shall be elected <br />for a term of Two Years each. <br /> <br />4t. <br /> <br />Section Threethis Ordinance shall take effect from and atter <br />its passage. <br /> <br />Passod March 13th <br /> <br />. } 'Af- <br />.II l-;-' <br /> <br />Attest <br />Wilbur H.
