<br />~ection 7. If the ~ealer of Weights and Measures shall find that
<br />~lny weights and measures, or instruments for weighing and measuring
<br />ilre inco~rect, inaccurate or unreliable beyond the limits of ~61i&lft
<br />1;ole~ance allowed, such weights or instruments for weighing may be
<br />c,ondemned.

<br />Section 8. The standard of Weights and Measures established and
<br />t>>rescribed by the laws of, the ~tate of Texas, shall be and consti-
<br />1:ute, the standard of weights and measures for all vendors of all
<br />clommodi ties in, the City of r.la Porte, and all weights and measures
<br />used by th e vendors in the City of rJa Porte shall conform to such
<br />~Itandard; and all commodities bought or sold wi thin the 11m! ts of
<br />1;he City shall be '!,veighed or, measured in accordance therewith.

<br />~ection 9. Every person, firm or corporation, using weights,
<br />Dleasures, scalebeams, patent balances, steelyards, gaSOline-pumps,
<br />~Lppliances for measuring gasoline, or any instrnment used in weigh-
<br />1,ng and measuring any article intended to be purchased or sold in
<br />1:heCi ty, or in weighing and measuring any thing, commodity, merchas
<br />elize, wares, person or animal for hire or reward, shall cause the
<br />~.ame to be inspected and sealed' by thq Sealer of Weights and neasure
<br />tn accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance, and the failure
<br />~Lnd refusal so to do shall be an Offense, and it shall be inlawful
<br />j~orany person, fi 1"'m or corporation, to sell, offer for sale, or pep
<br />permit or cause to be sold, or buy or offer to buy, any commodity
<br />by any standard of wetghts and measures except the proper standard
<br />herein prescrihed.

<br />Section 10. Every vender of ice in the City of La Porte shall at
<br />1ihe t.ime of actual delivery of any ice sold, weigh the quantity of
<br />tce delivered; and for that purpose shall use a steolyard balance
<br />or other apparatus., for weighing *uel) ice, which shall conform to
<br />the standard of weights and measures in accordance with the provis-
<br />~Lons of the ordinances;' and all ice delivered to conr-umers wi thin '
<br />1:he City shall be Bold by avoirdupois weight, ,unless it is otherwise
<br />specially agreed upon between the buyer and seller:

<br />Eaoh and every set of tongs used in the delivery of
<br />City, shall have prominently and oonspicuously
<br />the exact avoirdupois weight of said tongs.

<br />Section 12. That a standard measurement of a cord of firewood
<br />:Ls hereby fixed at one hundred and twenty-eight (128)$iil cubic
<br />:reet. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or oorporation, be
<br />]"ecG!iver, trustee, agent, servant or empolyee of such, to sell or
<br />(ieliver, or cause or permit to be sold or delivered to any purchaser
<br />:ri,re!wood in any quanti ties or by any measure, except by the cord or
<br />l)r f'ractional part, thereof; or to ca.use or permit to be sold or de-
<br />livered a less quantity represented to be sold or delivered.

<br />()r cause or perm! t to be sold or manufa.ctured, or offered or exposed
<br />j~or sale 1n his, premises, or to have in possession, or keep for sale
<br />nny bread, un1ess he Sh~ll have' posted in a conspicuous place in the
<br />).oom where said bNR.d 1s exposed for s'ala, a sign in sufficiently
<br />large letters t:o be read by customers, stating the ,veight of each
<br />loaf of bread, the trade name of the different kinds offered for
<br />sale, and the prioe per, loaf.

<br />~eotion 14. Every person, firm or corporation Offending against
<br />~Lny of the provisions of this ordinance, or failine; to comply therell
<br />ld th" shall be deemed guilty of a mi sdemeanor, and shall upon con-
<br />viotion be puntshed by a fine of not less that $1.00, and not more
<br />than $100.00. '
<br />ScctiGn 15. This ordinance shall take effect from and aftor its
<br />pasaage, approval ~nd p"blic~tion.
