<br />'An ordinance providing for the levy, assessment

<br />La Porte, Texas.

<br />There is hereby levied and shall be assessed and
<br />collected for the year 1931, on all the taxable property of
<br />the city of La Porte, Texas on the first aay of January 1931,
<br />an Ad Valorem of and at the rate of One and 50/100 Dollars
<br />($1,50) on the one hundred valuation of all taxable property
<br />in said city, estimated in lawful currency of the United States.
<br />to be divided as follows. Forty five cents for the current ex-
<br />penses for the year 1931 and 011e and 05/l00~l- Doi1ars ($1,05)
<br />on the one hundred valuation for a sinkinf fund for the pur~
<br />pose of paying the interest and principal on the bonded indebttue&&~E-
<br />edness of the city to-wit;For the purpose. of paying the interest
<br />and principal on warrants issued by the city for certain street
<br />paving. For the purpose of paying the interest and principal on
<br />bonds issued by the city for a water works system. For the pur--
<br />pose of paying the interest and pBincipal on a $25,000,00 funded .
<br />indebtedness, For the purpose of pa.y1ng the interest and prin- .
<br />cipal on a $100,000,00 bon~ msue for the purpose of constructing
<br />a sewer system, errecting a city hall building, extending the
<br />present water works system and paving certain streets. .

<br />There is hereby levied a tax of .05 on the one hun-
<br />dred valuation for the year 1931 for tlie s1nk1ng funa ror
<br />cer~a1n warrants 'heretofore issued for street paving in the
<br />city of'La Porte, Texaso
<br />, There is hereby levied a tax ~lae of .20 on the
<br />one hundred dollar valuation for .the year 1931 for the sink-
<br />ing fund to care:1f'or the interest and principal oIlA' $25,000,00
<br />funded indebtedness . ' ,.
<br />There is hereby levied a.~ax of .20 on the one hun-
<br />dred dollar valuation for the year,193l for the sinking fund
<br />to take care of a $30,000,00 bond issue for the purpose of
<br />installing a water works system. in the city of La Porte, Texas.

<br />There is hereby levied a tax of .60 on the one hun-
<br />dred dollar valuation for the year 1931 for the sinking fund
<br />to take care of a $100,000,00 bond issue for the purpoes of
<br />installing a swwer system, erecting a city hall and fire sta-
<br />tion,extending water system and doing certain street improve-
<br />ments in the city of La Porte, Texas.
<br />The remainder of said tax assessment of $1,59. on
<br />the one hundred dollar valuation of the taxable property in
<br />the city of La Porte, Texas, amounting to .45 on the one
<br />hundred dollar valuation Shall be set asside for the current
<br />expenses for the year 1931, such current expenses meaning the
<br />repair of streets and bridges, sal~ries of all city officials
<br />and employes and any other expense not covered by.the several
<br />bond issues. .
<br />The foregoing assessments are based on a valuation
<br />of all taxable property in the city of La Porte, Texas wit,hin
<br />the city limits amounting to$1,4l7,485.
<br />There being a public emergency requiril1g that the oN.i~
<br />ordinance be passed finally on the date of it's introduction, I
<br />the rules requiring that an ordinance be read at three separate ~
<br />meetings are hereby suspended and the ordinance is declared by the .
<br />Mayor to be iri full force and effect on the day of it's intro-
<br />duction i e th 14th day of September 1931.
