TEXAS: <br />ARTICLE I <br /> <br />Section 1. \'lherever in this Ordinanoe the following terms are used, they <br /> <br />shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section. <br /> <br />Intersection - The area embraced ~~thin the prolongation of the lateral <br /> <br />curb lines or, if none, then the lateral boundary lines of tVIO or more streets or <br /> <br />hiGhvJ8..Ys whioh join one another at an angle whether or not one suoh streGt or high- <br /> <br />,,::ay crosses the other. <br /> <br />Vehicle - Every device in, upon or by 'Which any person or property is or <br /> <br />may be transported o~ dravm upon a public highway. <br /> <br />Official Traffio Signals - All signals, not inconsistent wi.th this Ordi- <br /> <br />nllnce, placsd or ereeted by the City Council, .for the purpose of directing, 'Warning <br /> <br />or regule.:i:ii:n.g traffio. <br /> <br />Crosswalk - That portion of II roadway ordinarily included ;;i thi.n the pro- <br /> <br />l,ongation of' curb and property lines at intersections, or a:ny other port::'on of a <br /> <br />r,)advray clearly indioated for pedestrian crossing by lines or other ~rldngs on <br /> <br />the surface. <br /> <br />Traffic - Pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles t,n.d. other con- <br /> <br />vayances either singly or together while using any street for purposes of travel. <br /> <br />Operator - ~ person who is in actual physical control of a vohicle. <br /> <br />ART ICLE II <br /> <br />Section 1. I't shall be the duty ot the Polioe Depar"bnent of this City to <br /> <br />el~orce the provisiollS of this Ordinance. Officers of 'the Police Depar~~ent are <br /> <br />hE~reby authorized to direct all traffic either in person or by means of visible or <br /> <br />audible signal in oonformance with the provisions of this Ordinanoe, provided "chat <br /> <br />in the evont of a fire or other emergency or to expedite traffic or sl.l.:f.'eguard pedes- <br /> <br />tl'ians. officers of the Polioe or Fire Department may direct traffic, as conditions <br /> <br />mJJ.y require, notwithstanding the provisions of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />Sec'l;;ion 2.
