OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRI lIST, 1943 ~D ENDING MARCH31ST, 1944, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF r,A PORTE, TEXAS: ~e Section 1. That for the purpose of providing a budget for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 1943 and ending r,larch 31, 1944, the sums set forth below be, and the same are hereby, appropriated for the maintenance, operation and improvement of the government of the City of La Porte, and the same shall be strictly applied for the several purposes and in the respective amounts hereinafter specified. Section 2. That the amounts appropriated and the pur- poses for Which the same shall be spent be as follows: Total $4,821.65 1,691.00 1,648.40 5,731.22 2,148.00 7,413.87 1,171.72 9,690.00 22.10 $24,625.86 General Control Police Department Sewer Department Water Department Fire Department Street and Alley Department 'I'ax Department Refunded Debt Service Notes, Interest and Commission Total (,34,337.96 , Section 3. That the City Council may transfer a sum fro one item to another item within a fund, excepting that the Debt Service Fund shall not be subject to such alteration by the City Council; and that 8 sum may be transferred from one fund to anothe fund only on the authority of an Ordinance passed by the City Council. tit Section 4. That the necessity for the continued main- tenance, operation and improvement of the government of the City ot La Porte creates an emergency which requires that the Budget shall become effective at once, that the rule requiring Ordinances! to be read at three several meetings be suspended and that this Ordinance be passed finally on its first reading and that this
