(c) 'There is hereby levied a tax of Fifteen Cents (15~) on each One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) valuation of taxable property in the City of La Porte for the year 1943, for the purpose of pay- inB the current interest on, and to provide the necessary sinking fund for, the Fifteen Thousand Dollar ($15,000.00) "City of La Por e Sewer Improvement Warrants, Series 1943, and the same shall be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named. (d) There is hereby levied a tax of Twenty-Five Cents (25~) on each One Hundred Dollar (~lOO.OO) valuation of taxable property in the City of La Porte, for the year 1943, for the pur- pose of paying the various current expenses of the City of La Port , for the year 1943, including street and bridge work and repairs, payment of salaries of officers and all other necessary current expenses of said City. Section 2. The foregoing levies and assessments are based on the valuation of all taxable pro~erty in the City of La Porte, Texas, on January 1, 1943, amounting to the sum of One Million, FivG Hundred Sixty-Eight Thousand, One Hundred Seventy- Seven Dollaro ($1,568,177.00). Section 3. The fact that the best interest and general welfare of said City require this tax levy for the year 1943 in order that it may meet its obligations promptly constitutes and creates an emergency and an urgent public necessity re~,irinB that the rules providing for ordinances to be read at three several meetings be suspended and that this ordinance be passed as, and take effect as, an emergency measure and such rules and provisions are accordingly suspended and this ordinance is passed and shall take affect as an emergency measure and shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after its passaBe, and it is so or- e e . dained.
