<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. ~33. <br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF, SUPERINTENDENT OF <br />PUBLIC WORKS, PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES AND PO\VERS OF SUCH OFFICER; <br />FIXING THE COMPENSATION AND PROVIDING WHEN AND FROM WHAT FUNDS <br />SUCH Cm.iPENSATION SHALL BE PAID; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCF:S OR <br />PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREVIITH AND DECLARING AN <br />ElJIERGENCY. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That there is hereby created the office of <br />Superintendent of Public Works for the City of La POl'"te, Texas; <br />such Superintendent shall supervise all work in the water, street, <br />sewer and sanitary departments of the city; he shall control and <br />direct the work of all employes in such departments and shall per- <br />form any and all other duties and exercise any and all other au- <br />thority and power as the City Co~mission may, from tl~a to time, <br /> <br />prescribe. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Superintendent of the Public Works <br />shall receive, as his oompensation during the term of office, <br />the sum of Three Hundred Dollars (#300.00) per month, to be paid <br />semi-monthly on or after the first and fifteenth days of each cal- <br />endar month, by warrant drawn upon the General Funds of the City; <br />provided, however, that the City Commission may from time to <br />time allow s'Uoh official compensation for or reimbursement of <br /> <br />necessary expenses. <br /> <br />Section 3. That all Ordinances and resolutions and <br />parts of Ordinances and/or resolutions heretofore passed, whioh <br />are in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed by this Ordinance. <br />Section 4. That if any section or part of a sect len, <br /> <br />or one or more sections of this Ordinance be decl~red to be in- <br /> <br />valid, such shall not affeot the validity of the remaining parts <br />he:-eof. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section 5. That an emergenoy exists constituting an <br />imperative public necessity that the rule requiring Ordinances <br />to be read at three several meetings be suspended and this Or- <br />dinance take effect and be in force from and after its passage <br /> <br />and approval, and it is so ordained. <br />
