<br />AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING
<br />THE PROPOSED HOME-RULE
<br />CHARTER TO THE QUALIFIED
<br />VOTERS OF THE CITY OF LA
<br />'i PORTE, TEXAS
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
<br />I BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
<br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
<br />That whereas the Charter Com-
<br />mission heretofore appointed by
<br />the Mayor of the City of La Porte,
<br />Texas, have submitted a proposed
<br />home-rule charter for said City'
<br />to the Board of Commissioners,
<br />and have fixed the date for the
<br />submission of said proposed. home- :
<br />rule Charter to the qualified voters
<br />~ of said City on March 22, A. D.
<br />1949. and have determined that it
<br />is not practicable to submit the
<br />Charter by section, but as one
<br />pro.position to the voters;

<br />THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIN-
<br />ED BY THE CITY OF LA
<br />PORTE, TEXAS. that in compli-
<br />ance with the date fixed. by the
<br />Charter Commission, and under'
<br />and by virtue of the Home-Rule
<br />Amendment to the Constitution
<br />and the enabling Statute of the
<br />State of Texas, Articles 1165 to
<br />1169, Revised. Civil Statutes of!
<br />Texas. 1925. that an election be
<br />held on March 22. 1949. in said
<br />City, for the purpose of having
<br />the qualified voters pass on said
<br />propOsed Charter. and that at said
<br />election there be submitted to the
<br />r qualified voters of said City the
<br />proposition: Shall the charter
<br />framed by the Charter Commis-
<br />sion and completed on February
<br />7. A. D. 1949. be adopted? The
<br />official ballot shall read as follows:

<br />(1) FOR the adoption of the
<br />charter.
<br />(2) AGAINST the adoption of
<br />the charter.
<br />Mrs. Hallie Wright is appointed
<br />Presiding Judge, Mrs. Arbela Ral-
<br />ston Judge, and WHliam P. "Bm"
<br />Jones and Odell Brown are ap-
<br />pointed Clerks of said election. ATTEST:

<br />City Hall in the City of La City of La Porte, Texas
