<br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />....-....."\ <br /> <br />4t! <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. ~__ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, ACT <br />ING FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY TO ENTER INTO ALL NECESSARY AGREEMENfS WITH <br />THE Sl'ATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC \VEtFARE RELATIVE TO FEDERAL OW-AGE AND SURVIVORS' <br />INSURANCE BENEFITS UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF APPLICABLE STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS; <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY TO EXECUTE AND THE CITY CLERK TO AFFIX THE <br />CORPORATE SEAL AND ATTEST THE SAME TO AU SAID NECESSARY AGREEMENfS AND INSTRU- <br />MENfS FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY COMMISSION AND CITYj DIRECTING THE CITY <br />CLERK TO MAKE ASSESSMENTS, COLLECTIONS AND REPORTS; AND ORDERING THE ALLOCATION <br />AND SETTING ASIDE OF SUFFlCIENf MONEY FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS TO CARRY OUT THE PRO- <br />VISIONS OF SAID tAWS, SUCH MONEY TO BE SET ASIDE AND MAINTAINED IN THE REGULAR <br />CITY DEPOSITORY AND TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF LA PORT E SQkIAL SECURITY FUND.-.... <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of (1) House Bill 603t Acts 52nd Leg.) <br /> <br />R. S. 1951, and (2) Public Law 734j 8lst Congressl chI 809, 2dl H, R, 60001 in- <br /> <br />corporated cities of this State may enter into agreements with tbe State Depart- <br /> <br />ment of Public Welfare and secure the benefits of Federal Old-Age and Survivors <br /> <br />............--.-'.. <br /> <br />Insurancet as outlined in said laws; and <br /> <br />......--... <br /> <br />WHEREASs it is the opinion of this City Commission that the extension <br />of tbis Old-Age and Survivors Insurance System will be of great benefit not only <br />to tbe employees of the municipality but to the municipality by attracting to it <br /> <br />,.. , <br />~: <br /> <br />'- -,/ <br /> <br />, <br />and enabling it to retain the best of personnel and thus increase the efficiency <br />of its government; and it is deemed that the payment by the municipality of its <br />portion of the cost of said system is a payment for municipal purposes; and <br />WHEREASt it is the desire of this City Commission to authorize the <br />making of any and all necessary agreements in order to secure the benefits of <br /> <br />said acts; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, TEXAS: <br /> <br />.....-........, <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Section 1. That the City Commissionl acting for and on behalf of the <br />City of La PorteJ shall enter into all necessary agreements with the State De- <br />partment of Public Welfare for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the <br />above mentioned acts. <br /> <br />:"-./' <br /> <br />/ --.... <br />e,\ <br /> <br />Section 2. That M. D. Burgin1 Mayor, bet and is hereby, appointed as <br />Agent of tbe City Commission and of the City to execute all necessary agreements <br />and instruments for and in behalf of said City Commission and City. The City <br />Clerk is hereby directed to attest all necessary agreements and instruments and <br />to affix the proper seal of the City thereto. <br />Section 3. That the City Clerk! Frank G. Baker. is hereby directed <br />to be the person responsible for making assessments. collectionsl paymentsl and <br />reports, as required by the State Department of Public Welfare~ <br /> <br />"- <br />
