_ _., <br />'~. <br />• <br />ORDINANCE N0. 530 <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR BIENNIAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OFFICIALS OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORT E, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR POLLING PLACE; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFI- <br />CIALS; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING <br />FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND SAVING CLAUSE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORT E, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. An election be held within the corporate limits of the <br />• <br />City of La Porte, Texas, on the 22nd day of April, A. D. 1958; such day being <br />the fourth Tuesday in April, between seven o'clock (7:00) A. ~4. and seven o'cloc! <br />(7:00) P. M., for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) Commissioners of 1 <br />i <br />said City. <br />Section 2. There shall be but one (1) polling place, which shall be <br />• <br />• <br />the City Hall, located within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, <br />Texas. <br />Section 3. Mrs. H. M. Ralston <br />is hereby appointed <br />Judge of said election, Mrs. Otis Harrison and <br />are hereby appointed Assistant Judges <br />of said election, and Mrs. Calvin Compton <br />Mrs. J. M. Higgins and <br />Mrs. Rex Baker <br />are hereby appointed Clerks of said election. <br />Section 4. Immediately after the close of the polls on the 22nd day <br />of April, A. D. 1958, the election officials shall make due return thereof to <br />;the City Commission and the City Commission shall canvass the returns on the <br />I,Monday next following the 22nd day of April, A. D. 1958, or sooner, provided tha <br />din the event of a failure, from any cause, of the Commission to convene on the <br />(said Monday then the Commission shall be convened for that purpose upon the <br />earliest day practicable thereafter, and shall immediately after canvassing the <br />returns declare the results of the election and the Mayor shall immediately <br />thereafter deliver to the candidates for whom the greatest number of votes have <br />been polled for the office of Mayor and for the offices of Commissioner a cer- <br />tificate of election, and such elected officials shall assume their duties with-- <br />in ten (10) days thereafter, Sundays excluded. <br />
