If any legal impediment exists, preventing the valid an- <br />vexation of any, portion of the abovh described territory to the City of La Porte, <br />.then such portion of the above described territory is hereby excluded and the <br />remaining territory is hereby annexed to the City of La Porte and the boundary <br />limits of said City of La Porte are hereby amended to conform to the territory <br />so annexed. <br />Section b. Upon the introduction of this ordinance in the City Com-~ <br />• <br /> <br />mission of the City of La Porte, Texas, it shall be published in the official <br />newspaper as adopted by the said City Commission in the City of La Porte one (1) <br />time and it shall not thereafter be finally acted upon until at least thirty (3d <br />days have elapsed after the first notification thereof. Any citizen of the City! <br />of La Porte, or of the territory to be annexed, shall have the right to contest <br />such annexation by filing with the City Commission of the City of La Porte a <br />written petition setting out the reason for said contest, and after such citizen; <br />or citizens shall have been given an opportunity to be heard, this ordinance, <br />in its original or amended form, as the said City Commission in its judgment <br />may determine, shall be finally passed, and the territory so annexed shall be a <br />part of the City of La Porte, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be en- <br />titled to all rights and privileges of other citizens and shall be bound by the <br />acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said City. <br />Section 7. If any portion of this ordinance be invalid then so much <br />thereof as shall not be invalid shall be and remain in full force and effect. <br />Section 8. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after <br /> <br />t <br />it has been published and finally passed by the City Commission of the City of <br />La Porte, in accordance with the provisions of Section b. of this ordinance. <br />Introduced and approved and passed by the City Commission of the City <br />of La Porte, upon its firstreading on this, the ~ day of ~~ <~= <br />iP <br />A.
