~ • <br />ORDINANCE N0. ~^~ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3, DEFINING PARKING t1iETER ZONE, SECTION 5, PRE- <br />SCRIBING LENGTH OF TIME AND RATES CHARGED FOR PARKING, AND SECTION 22, PROVIDING <br />THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS OF THE ORDINANCE SHALL BE FINED IN ANY <br />SUM NOT LESS THAN FIFTY CENTS (50¢) NOR MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.lC), <br />;AND REPEALING SECTION '~, PROVIDING FOR DEPOSIT OF COINS IN PARKING METERS, OF 3 <br />iORDINANCE N0. 519 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, PASSED ON THE 19TH DAY OF JULY, A. D. <br />': 1957 . <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT: f <br />Section 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 519 of the City of La Porte, <br />passed and approved on the 19th day of July, A. D. 1957, is hereby amended to <br />read, and shall hereafter read, as follows: <br />PARKING METER ZONE DEFINED. The following described parts of streets <br />in the City of La Porte, Texas, are hereby established as "Parking lieter Zane", <br />1 <br />to wit: <br />That part of l9est h~iain Street which lies between Broadway Street <br />and Fourth Street and that part of South Fourtl4.Street which lies <br />between best Main Street and West "A" Street. <br />Section 2. Section 5 of Ordinance No. 519 of the City of La Porte, <br />passed and approved on the 19th day of July, A. D. 1957, is hereby amended to <br />', read, and shall hereafter read, as follows: <br />LENGTH OF TIME AND RATES CHARGED FOR PARKING AND DEPOSIT OF COINS. <br />`;When any vehicle shall be parked in any space adjacent to which a parking meter <br />is located, in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance, the operator of <br />said vehicle shall, upon entering the said parking space, immediately deposit, <br />or cause to be deposited, a one (1) or five (5) cent coin of the United States, <br />`~ in such parking meter, and put such meter in operation, and failure to deposit <br />i~ such coin and put the meter in operation shall constitute a violation of this <br />i0rdinance and shall subject such person to the penalty prescribed hereinafter. <br />!;Upan placing such meter in operation as aforesaid the parking space may be law- <br />fully occupied by such vehicle for a period of twelve (12) consecutive minutes <br />',for each one cent. (1~) coin of the United States deposited therein up to one <br />hundred twenty (120) minutes, or for a period of sixty (6G) consecutive minutes <br />'.':for each five cent. (5~) cain of the United States deposited therein up to one <br />hundred twenty (120) minutes, and payment of the aforesaid amounts for the above' <br />`.:.periods shall be made for parking in the areas set forth hereinabove. If any <br />such vehicle shall remain parked in any such parking space beyond the parking <br />time limit as fixed by the coin or coins deposited in such meter for such parking;,. <br />spece, the parking meter shall, by its dial and pointer, indicate such illegal <br />;parking and in that event such vehicle shall be considered parked overtime and <br />
