,. r." 'e " , . .7e ORDINANCE NO. 715 AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF IA PORTE TO REFUND CERTAIN AD VALOREM TAXES PAI'D UNDER PROTEST FOR THE CALEN- DAR YEARS 1963 AND 1964. WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has heretofore annexed on final reading, certain territory contiguous to its then City limits~ . and r" ~,) WHEREAS, said annexation was contested by the City of Houston in a quo. warranto suit~ and WHEREAS, the final judgment of the Supreme Court of the State of Texas upheld portions of said annexation, and invalidated other portions of said annexations~ and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte levied and assessed ad valorem taxes for the calendar years 1963 and 1964, against pro- perty located within that portion of the annexed territory subse- quently declared to be ,invalidly annexed~ and WHEREAS; certain taxpayers owning property within said disputed territory, paid said ad valorem taxes under protest~ and WHEREAS, all 'of said ad valorem taxes levied and assessed for 1964, and all delinquent 1963 taxes in said disputed territory .' which were actually paid in 1964, were all deemed by the City of La Porte to have been paid under protest, and placed in an Escrow . Fund by the City Clerk bf the City of La Porte~ and WHEREAS,the names and addresses of the taxpayers, a description of their property and the amount of taxes paid under protest in 1963 and 1964 are more fully shown by "Exhibit A" attached hereto, incorporated by reference herein, and made a part hereof for all purposes: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF IA PORTE: .------'.,
