Broussard <br />Acting Public Works Director <br />Dear Mr. Broussard: <br />June 28, 1977 <br />323.5 <br />Your letter of June 24, 1977 was received in my <br />office today with reference to train blocking Spencer Highway <br />crossing and furnishing copy of City of LaPorte Ordinance X973, <br />requesting answer to questions in Section 20-8, paragraph (b). <br />Sec. 20-8. Report of obstructed croasin~s. <br />(1) Southern Pacific switch train was operated at <br />about 2:00 PM, June 24, 1977 on Spencer Highway <br />crossing. <br />(2) SP engine 3764. <br />(3) Southern Pacific Transportation Company. <br />(4) Conductor S. J. Cansler. <br />As explanation, a switch crew moved in a generally <br />southern direction with engine leading pulling a cut of cars <br />that required switching and placed in groups for the various <br />plants in that general area. Movement stopped and a total <br />of three switches were made assembling the cars. The cars <br />then were moved generally north clearing the crossing. <br />
