It shall'be unlawful for the driver or the attendant of <br />an emergency ambulance to fail to render first aid and assistance <br />to the sick or injured at the piace of the eme~gency. <br />3. It shall be unlawful for an eme~gency ambulance operator, <br />or any of his or its drivers or attendants, to refuse to carry or <br />transport any sick or injured person at the place of an emergency <br />after having been dispatched thereto or cleared thereto by the <br />police radi<? dispatcher, and the circumstance that the sick or <br />injured person is, or appears to be, indigent, shall not serve <br />as an excuse from.. this requirement. <br />Section 17. Penalty. <br />Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the <br />provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misde- <br />meanor and upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to <br />exceed Two Hundred ($200) Dollars for such offense. Each day's <br />violation shall constitute a separate offense. <br />Section 18. Severability Clause. <br />If any provision, section, subsection, sentence, clause or <br />phrase of this ordinance, or, the application of same to any <br />person or set of circumstances, if for any re ason are held to be <br />unconstitutional, void ,or invalid (or for any reason unenforce- <br />able), the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, <br />or their application to other persons or sets of circumstances, <br />shall not'be affected thereby, it bei~g the intent of the City <br />Commission of the City of La Porte in adopting this ordinance, <br />and of the Mayor of the City of La Porte in approving this <br />ordinance, that no portion hereof or provision or regulation <br />contained :herein shall become inoperative or fail by reason of <br />any unconstitutionality or invalidity, or any other portion, <br />provision or regulation, and to this end, all provisions of this <br />ordinance are declared to be severable. <br />
