<br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXPERIMENTAL' USE OF REFUSE BAGS
<br />IN THAT PORTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE SI,TUATED WEST OF BROADWAY
<br />STREET, FROM JUNE 1, 1968 THROUGH AUGUST 31, ,1968; PROVIDING THAT
<br />THE CITY SHALL NOT COLLECT GARBAGE FROM ANY DWELLING UNIT SITUATED
<br />WEST OF BROADWAY ST~ET, DURING SUCH EXPERIMENTAL PERIOD, UNLESS
<br />CONTAINED IN APPROVED REFUSE BAGS; pROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON
<br />VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEME9 'GUILTY ,OF A
<br />MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT
<br />LESS THAN TWENTY-FIVE ($25.00,) DOLLARS NOR MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED
<br />. ($200.00) DOLLARS, AND EACH DAY OF VIOLATION SHALL BE DEEMED A
<br />SEPARATE OFFENSE; ,AND PROVIDING 'A SAVING CLAUSE.
<br />
<br />Garba'ge. The term ,"garb~ge" shall be held to mean all
<br />. animal and v~getable matters, such as waste material and refuse
<br />from kitchens,. grocery stores, and res'taurants, includi~g such
<br />items as meat scraps, bread, bones, fruit and v~g'etable peeli!lgs,
<br />and similar wastes.

<br />Trash. The 'b~rm "trash" sha;ll mean rubbish, such as
<br />
<br />.

<br />feathers', . pq.per, ,tin cans, ,r~gs" glass, .broken dishes, boxes, old
<br />clothes and shoes; aiso, grass trimmi~gs, .tree 'leaves',' he~ge 'trim-
<br />mi!lgs and tree limbs not to :ex.ceed three (3) inches in diameter
<br />and cut in le!lgths not exceedi~g four (4) feet.
<br />Premi's'es. The 'word "preniises'" shall be 'taken to mean
<br />business houses, roomi~g houses, .boardi~ghouses, ,offi.ces, theaters,
<br />
<br />hotels, motels, inns, restaurants, ,cafes, eati~g houses, trailer
<br />
<br />courts, tourist courts, tourist camps, ,apartments, sanitariums,
<br />
<br />schools, private residences, vacant lots and all other places
<br />
<br />within the city where, garb~ge, trash or rubbish accumulates in
<br />
<br />ordinary quantities.'
<br />
<br />Hotel, inn, motel" rooming houses and boardinghouses are
<br />
<br />defined as a plac~ where the purpose is to furnish food and
<br />
<br />.

<br />Section.. 2. The purpose of this Ordinance -is to provide
<br />for the experimental use of refuse b~gs, for the period b~ginni!lg
<br />June 1, 1968, and en,di!lg August 31, 1968, ,in that portion of the
