<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORIGINt,1 <br /> <br />\ t. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 98--LL- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ALL NECESSARY ACTIONS TO CALL A BOND <br />ELECTION, AND TO CALL AN ELECTION FOR THE ADOPTION OF A SECTION 4B <br />ONE-HALF CENT SALES TAX, ON JANUARY 16, 1999; DESCRIBING PROJECTS; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />section 1. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />authorizes all necessary actions to call a general obligation bond <br /> <br />election on January 16, 1999, for the following projects: <br /> <br />Municipal Buildinqs <br /> <br />proposition 1: Addition to City Hall ($1,500,000) - This <br />project includes an addition to the existing City Hall <br />building which was completed in 1978. These funds would be <br />used in conjunction with funds set aside in the last two <br />fiscal years for remodeling of the existing building. <br /> <br />proposition 2: Replacement of Fire Station 4 ($750,000) - The <br />Fire Station located on Shoreacres Boulevard is owned by the <br />City of Shoreacres. The City has use of it for a fifteen year <br />period that will end in 2004. The City has purchased property <br />at South Broadway and McCabe for the new station. <br /> <br />proposition 3: Replacement of Fire station 3 ($750,000) - The <br />Fire Station located on Lomax School Road will be replaced, <br />and a new Fire station constructed at or near the same <br />location. This station was originally the Lomax Fire station <br />and a newer facility is needed. <br /> <br />street Paving <br /> <br />proposition 4: Re-paving of Fifth Street ($675,000) - North <br />Fifth Street is an asphalt street with open ditches. This <br />project wold replace it with a concrete street with curbs and <br />gutters. <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />proposition 5: Replacement of the San Jacinto Swimming Pool <br />($250,000) - The existing San Jacinto Swimming Pool would be <br />demolished, and a new swimming pool would be constructed. The <br />bond funds would provide a new, zero depth pool, to be located <br />at or near its current site. <br />
