<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 96-1637-A <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION VI OF THE ELECTRIC CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS <br />ORDINANCE SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION <br />THEREOF SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED <br />DOLLARS ($500.00); CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />section 1. section 6.01(a) of the Electric Code of the City <br /> <br />of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows, to- <br /> <br />wit: <br /> <br />"6.01 Meter Cabinets <br /> <br />(a) The meter cabinets and electrical metering equipment <br />through which service is rendered by the electric public <br />service company to domestic establishments and buildings <br />combining domestic establishments with commercial or <br />industrial usage, shall be installed where readily <br />accessible on the exterior of the building. Meter <br />cabinets or meter sockets shall be approved by the <br />electric public service company and installed by the <br />master electrician performing the work, and meter <br />cabinets to be located so the center of the opening for <br />the meter dial shall be not less that five feet (5') nor <br />more than six feet (6') above mean ground level, and to <br />be readily accessible to the electric public service <br />company to service. On apartment buildings, where space <br />limitations will not permit placing all meters at the <br />same height, they may be arranged in two (2) tiers, with <br />the openings for the meter dials in lower tier as near as <br />practicable to five feet (5') above mean ground level and <br />second tier placed as near as practicable above the <br />first. Where space limitations will not permit placing <br />of meter cabinets as outlined above, the electric public <br />service company, subject to the approval of the <br />Inspector, may determine the arrangement to be used. All <br />service outlets shall be located so as to permit placing <br />the electric public service company's service wires on <br />the wall of the building next to the supply." <br /> <br />section 2. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any <br /> <br />part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause, of the ordinance <br /> <br />shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not <br /> <br />affect the remaining portions of the ordinance, and it is hereby <br />
