LEGAL NOTICE Pursuant to Article VII, "Franchise and Public Utilities," of the Home Rule Charter of the City of La Porte, notice is hereby given that a proposed ordinance extending the franchise of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company with the City of La Porte, was passed on first reading by the City Council of the City of La Porte, at its regular meeting of April 27, 1992. The proposed franchise extension ordinance will be considered by the City Council of the City of La Porte on second and final reading, at its regular council meeting of June 8, 1992. The full text of the franchise ordinance may be examined by any member of the public, without charge, at the office of the City Secretary of the City of La Porte, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, during regular office hours. The caption of the ordinance is as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 1834 AN ORDINANCE WHEREBY THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AND SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY AGREE THAT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING ITS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUSINESS, THE TELEPHONE COMPANY SHALL MAINTAIN AND CONSTRUCT ITS POLES, WIRES, ANCHORS, FIBER, CABLES, MANHOLES, CONDUITS AND OTHER PHYSICAL PLANT AND APPURTENANCES IN, ALONG, ACROSS, ON, OVER, THROUG~, ABOVE AND UNDER ALL PUBLIC STREETS, AVENUES, HIGHWAYS, ALLEYS, SIDEWALKS, BRIDGES OR PUBLIC WAYS IN SAID CITY; PRESCRIBING THE ANNUAL COMPENSATION DUE THE CITY UNDER THIS ORDINANCE; PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS GOVERNING THE USE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND THE PERFORMANCE OF CERTAIN CONSTRUCTION WORK ON PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY FOR THE TELEPHONE COMPANY'S TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUSINESS; PROVIDING AN INDEMNITY CLAUSE; SPECIFYING GOVERNING LAWS; PROVIDING FOR A RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS UNDER PRIOR ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR FUTURE CONTINGENCIES; PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC NOTICE OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR WRITTEN ACCEPTANCE OF THIS ORDINANCE BY THE TELEPHONE COMPANY; AND PROVIDING FOR A TERM AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
