Public Liability Insurance Required. <br />Before an emergency ambulance operator's permit is granted <br /> <br />to an applicant, or before any renewal thereof, the applicant or <br /> <br />the operator seeking renewal shall provide evidence to the <br /> <br /> <br />City Commission that he has in full force and effect a public <br /> <br />liability insurance policy on each emergency ambulance, such <br /> <br />insurance policy to be issued by an insurance company licensed <br /> <br />to do business in the State of Texas, or by a surplus line insur- <br /> <br />ance company which is not legally prohibited from doing business <br /> <br />in the State of Texas. Such insurance policy or policies shall <br /> <br />provide liability insurance in the amount of not less than <br /> <br />$50,000 for anyone accident and not less than $25,000 for injury <br />to anyone person, and not less than $5,000 for property damage <br /> <br />for anyone accident. Such insurance policy shall not contain a <br /> <br />passenger liabilitY,exclusion. Each liability insurance policy <br />shall contain a provision obligating the insurer to give to the <br /> <br />City Commission written notice of cancellation not less than ten <br /> <br />(10) days prior to the date of any cancellation. <br /> <br />Section 13. Emergency Ambulance Driver's Qualifications. <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive an <br /> <br />emergency ambulance upon the streets of the City of La Porte, <br /> <br />unless the driver thereof shall meet the following qualifications: <br /> <br />1. Driver must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older. <br /> <br />2. A person may not be a driver if he has been convicted of <br /> <br />a felony or of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude within the <br /> <br />past ten (10) years. <br /> <br />3. A driver must be the holder of a Texas Chauffeur's <br /> <br />license. <br /> <br />Section 14. Use of Red Lights and Sirens; Speed, etc. <br /> <br /> <br />1. It shall be unlawful to operate or drive an emergency <br /> <br />ambulance on the public streets of the City of La Porte in excess <br /> <br />of the speed limits applicable to non-emergency vehicles unless <br /> <br />the driver thereof has been dispatched or cleared for emergency <br /> <br />'.:'~~mb!llanc~ service. <br />" <br />
