<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />6) Economics - tax base <br /> <br />The proposal of one acre minimum lots results in the area of the city of <br />LaPorte where there are numerous houses located on SOfeet xl 00 feet lot~ <br />to continue to subsidize the Lomax area. <br />Infracrstructure costs -fire protection; police protection; street lighting, <br />maintenance and upgrade of roads, water and sewer lines and pump <br />stations. There is a significant difference in the tax base of one house on <br />one acre lot vs. 2 houses on half acre lot or 3 houses on third acre lots. <br /> <br />7) Summary <br /> <br />The exercise of the property right restrictions in the Lomax Large Lot <br />Proposal is the same as taking land by eminent domain. There are no <br />public use issues in this proposal. <br /> <br />The City of LaPorte ordinances currently are sufficient to permit the <br />development of large plots of land in the Lomax area. Land owners in the <br />Lomax area should not be forced to develop their land into large lots. In <br />turn (ALL LAND OWNERS) in the City of LaPorte should be governed <br />by the same ordinances. <br /> <br />8) Recommendations <br /> <br />a) Submit the proposal of one acre with I 00 feet width minimum to the <br />Texas Attorney Generalfor a rendering on the rights of property owners. <br /> <br />b) Let present policy of City of LaPorte remain in force.
