That portion of Little Cedar Bayou Park situated east of <br />Old Highway 146, was purchased by the City of La Porte <br />in various tracts, for a total consideration of <br />$96,000.00, and, when last surveyed, constituted 14.644 <br />acres, more or less, al though a current survey will <br />likely show erosion of this total acreage computation. <br /> <br />7. This portion of Little Cedar Bayou Park generates no <br />revenue for the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of La Porte, in <br /> <br />connection wi~h the former Seabreeze Sailing Club Property situated <br />on Galveston Bay in the City of La Porte, finds, determines and <br /> <br />declares the following: <br /> <br />1. By acquiring the former Seabreeze Sailing Club property, <br />the City will have better control of its future in <br />determining the development of the shoreline of Galveston <br />Bay. Further, the City will not be dependent on Harris <br />County and private ownership in providing water <br />recreational opportunities for its citizens. <br /> <br />2. City's Comprehensive Plan recognizes Galveston Bay as an <br />untapped resource within La Porte: <br /> <br />a) future marina and pier site; <br />b) Master Plan calls for more recreational and leisure <br />activities; and <br />c) development of a recreational industry. <br /> <br />3. The former Seabreeze Sailing Club property is a good <br />location for a public park. The property is adjoined by <br />Deer Creek to the north and is built up high with bulk <br />heading in place. The property has been declared <br />environmentally clean. <br /> <br />4. The former Seabreeze Sailing Club property has a permit <br />from the state of Texas for a fishing pier, and a small <br />pier is already in place. <br /> <br />5. The former Seabreeze Sailing Club property meets some of <br />the primary goals ~nd objectives called for within the <br />Visions '89 Goals Report: <br />
