<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1501-JJ.D_ <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />(f) The 2 alternate members are required to attend all meetings in the <br />same manner as the district members of the commission. Alternate <br />members shall not vote unless filling an absence of a district <br />member or the chairman. <br /> <br />Section 6. Section 106-86, uOrganization", of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br /> <br />La Porte, Texas is hereby amended and shall hereafter read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 106-86. Organization. <br /> <br />There is hereby created a board of adjustment consisting of five regular <br />members and two alternates (Alternate Position 1 and Alternate Position 2) who are <br />citizens of the city and who are not members of the city councilor the city planning <br />and zoning commission, each to be appointed by the city council for a term of three <br />years and removable for cause by the appointing authority upon written charges <br />and after a public hearing. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term of any <br />member whose term becomes vacant for any cause, in the same manner as the <br />original appointment was made. All cases to be heard by the zoning board of <br />adjustment shall be heard by a minimum of four members. <br /> <br />The 2 alternate members are required to attend all meetings in the same <br />manner as the regular members of the board. Alternate members shall not vote <br />unless filling an absence of a regular member or the chairman. If a regular <br />member or the chairman is absent from a meeting, Alternate Position 1 shall take <br />his place. If a second regular member and/or the chairman is absent from a <br />meeting, Alternate Position 2 shall take his place. <br /> <br />Section 7. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any part of any section, <br /> <br />sentence, phrase, or clause, of this Ordinance shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such <br /> <br />invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance, it is hereby declared to <br /> <br />be the intention of the City of Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase, or <br /> <br />clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the fact that any other section, sentence, phrase, or <br /> <br />clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid. <br /> <br />Section 8. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a <br />sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City <br />
