<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89-5 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an integral component of the economic growth and <br />development of any community is access to and through the <br />community by way of modern, safe and uncongested highways and <br />roads; and <br />WHEREAS, the Fred Hartman bridge on State Highway 146 will <br />give our community greater access to the east and west via <br />Interstate Highway 10; and <br />WHEREAS, the Fred Hartman bridge will also give our community <br />a greater evacuation route in the event of natural disaster; and <br />WHEREAS, Robert Lanier, as a Commissioner of the Texas <br />Highway Department, Campaign Co-chairman of the Good Roads <br />Amendment campaign, and current Chairman of the Board of the <br />Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority, has been instrumental in <br />seeing that not only our community but all of Southeast Texas has <br />been adequately served with modern, safe and uncongested highways <br />and roads. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS <br />Section 1. That the dedication and commitment to the <br />highways and roads of the State of Texas by Robert Lanier be <br />recognized by the City of La Porte. <br />Section 2.
