KIBODEAUX MUNICIPAL <br />SERVICES CENTER, IN HONOR AND MEMORY OF CITY COUNCILMAN I. J. <br />KIBODEAUX <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux was elected Water and Sewer Commis- <br /> <br />sioner of the City of La Porte in 1966, and was serving his eighth <br /> <br />consecutive term as a member of the La Porte City Council at the <br /> <br />time of his death on November 24, 1981; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during his many years of service in La Porte City <br /> <br />government, he served several terms as mayor pro tem~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux served as Water and Sewer Commis- <br /> <br />sioner during mor'e than a decade of rapid growth and expansion <br /> <br />of the City of La Porte's water and sewer system, and was vitally <br /> <br />interested in the extensive water and sewer system improvements, <br /> <br />which were under construction at the time of his death~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux, as Water and Sewer Commissioner, <br /> <br />worked diligently for many years to see that all residents of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte had sanitary sewer service available~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux took great pride in the City of <br /> <br />La Porte sister city project with the City of Cd. Valles, Mexico~ <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux was a member of the International <br /> <br />Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers <br /> <br />Local Union 84, of which he was past president, and of which he <br /> <br />was serving as shop steward at the time of his death~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux was a friend of the working man, <br /> <br />and was always sensitive to the welfare of all of the employees of <br /> <br />the City of La Porte~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, I. J. Kibodeaux was an active sports fan, and was <br /> <br />particularly interested in baseball, and was instrumental as a <br /> <br />member of the La Porte City Commission, in the planning and con- <br />struction of the Fairmont Park Sports Complex; and <br />
