RESOLUTION NO. 2017- 07 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br /> AUTHORIZING THE VICTIM COORDINATOR AND LIAISON POSITION BE PARTIALLY <br /> FUNDED THROUGH A GRANT FOR THE FISCAL YEARS 2018-2019; APPROVING <br /> SUBMISSION OF THE GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE VICTIM COORDINATOR AND <br /> LIAISON POSITION THROUGH THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL; DESIGNATING <br /> THE CITY MANAGER AS THE GRANTEE'S AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL; FINDING <br /> COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAWS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> HEREOF. <br /> Legal Name of Applicant: City of La Porte, Texas <br /> Unique Application Number: V0010-18-0027 <br /> WHEREAS, The City of La Porte has applied for or wishes to apply to the Office of the Attorney <br /> General (OAG) for the Victim Coordinator and Liaison Grant (VCLG); <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of La Porte has considered and supports the Application <br /> filed or to be filed with the Office of the Attorney General; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City of La Porte has designated or wishes to designate Corby Alexander, City <br /> Manager, as the "Authorized Official" who is given or has been given the power to apply for, <br /> accept, reject, alter or terminate the Victim Coordinator and Liaison Grant (VCLG) with the Office <br /> of the Attorney General (OAG) on behalf of the City of La Porte (also referred to as "grantee" <br /> herein), as well as given the authority to sign all grant adjustment requests, inventory reports, <br /> progress reports, and financial reports or any other official documents related to the grant on <br /> behalf of the grantee <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> Section 1. The City of La Porte authorizes the Victim Coordinator and Liaison Position be <br /> acquired through a grant for the fiscal years 2018-2019, and further authorizes and approves <br /> submission of the grant application for the Victim Coordinator and Liaison Position, via the Office <br /> of the Attorney General of the State of Texas. <br /> Section 2. The City of La Porte designates the, City Manager, Corby Alexander, as the <br /> grantee's authorized official. <br /> Section 3. The City of La Porte agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the <br /> Attorney General funds, the City of La Porte assures that the funds will be returned to the Office <br /> of the Attorney General in full; and; agrees that it will appropriate any matching funds in support <br /> of the grant, if applicable. <br /> Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a sufficient <br /> written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council is posted at <br /> a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding <br /> this meeting, as required by Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has <br /> been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject <br /> matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further <br /> ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. <br />
