<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />RESOLU'I10N NO. 84-9 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTF. ,TEXAS, RATIFYING <br />AND AUTHORIZING ITS PARTICIPATION IN THE COALITION OF <br />CITIES WITH ORIGINAL JURISDICTION TO INCLUDE DATA SHAR- <br />ING AND INTERVENTION WITH SAID COALITION IN THE HL&:P <br />RATE REQUEST, DOCKET NO. 5779, BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITY <br />COMMISSION OF TEXAS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on June 15, 1984, Houston Lighting and Power Company (HL&:P) <br />fUed a Statement of Intent to change its rates for electric service within the City <br />oi T,;::o Pnri-e- ' Texas, and throughout its service area, and has requested that said <br />changes become effective on July 20, 1984; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Public Utility Commission of Texas has original jln'isdiction <br />over said rate request within the unincorporated areas of the service area; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte <br />said rate request within its corporate limits and; <br /> <br />e WHEREAS, the complexities of the issues and the magnitude of the requested <br />rate increase requires extensive study, data and analysis for the City to responsibly <br />exercise its original jln'isdiction and protect the general welfare of all ratepayers within <br />its boundaries; and, <br /> <br />, Texas, has original jln'isdiction over <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas, desires to cooperate in a joint <br />effort with other cities with original jurisdiction to provide for an adequate analysis of <br />the issues raised by the rate change request and to retain real authority and establish a <br />genuine impact on the rate setting process by municipalities with original jurisdiction; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE , TEXAS: <br /> <br />THAT the City Council of the City of La Porte , Texas, hereby <br />ratifies and authorizes the full participation of the City of La Porte , Texas, in <br />the Coalition of Cities with Original Jurisdiction, to include data and analysis sharing and <br />. intervention as a member city of the Coalition in the HL&:P Rate Change Application, <br />Docket No. 5779, now pending before the Public Utility Commission of Texas. <br />
