<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 85-20 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE LA PORTE TEXANS' WAR ON <br />DRUGS FOR A FULL-TIME COMMUNITY INTERVENTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The La Porte Texans' War on Drugs began two years <br />ago as a nonprofit organization, in response to concerned parents <br />who wanted to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among the youth in <br />our community; and <br />WHEREAS, The organization proposes the extension of its <br />program into full-time community intervention; and <br />WHEREAS, In our opinion, this extension would provide highly <br />positive benefits for the ~ity of La Porte, Texas; and <br />WHEREAS, The primary purpose of the La Porte Texans' War on <br />Drugs is to inform and educate parents, adolescents and children, <br />and others about the dangers of marijuana, alcohol, and other <br />mind-altering drugs, and <br />WHEREAS, The organization's shared unity among families, <br />educators, clergymen, law enforcement, and local business has <br />brought the group successfully to this point; and <br />WHEREAS, The extension of the program would enable the <br />organization to continue its record of successes and to work with <br />the community on a daily basis. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS <br />THAT, the City Council of the City of La Porte, goes on <br />record as supporting the efforts of the La Porte Texans' War On <br />Drugs to secure a full-time community intervention program, which, <br />if successful, would be extremely beneficial for the City of La <br />Porte and its citizens. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 11th day of November, 1985. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />71l~~j;(~~ <br />~~n Malone, ~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~ cl<JJJ <br /> <br /> <br />---------~------ <br /> <br />City Secretary <br />
