<br />Unexcused absence may be defined as follows. This list is not intended to be all- <br />inclusive: <br /> <br />1. Tardiness <br />2. Unverified sick time <br />3. Unauthorized time off <br />4. Failure to call supervisor within fifteen minutes after the start of the <br />employee's scheduled work time. <br /> <br />5. Repeated Unexcused Absences <br /> <br />Employees repeatedly incurring unexcused absences shall be subject to <br />disciplinary action up to and including termination. <br /> <br />Unexcused absences from work for a period of 3 full consecutive working days <br />shall be considered as a voluntary resignation. Twenty-four hour shift personnel <br />with unexcused absences of 2 consecutive shifts shall be considered as a <br />voluntary resignation. <br /> <br />6. Holidays <br /> <br />The following is a list of approved holidays: <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Good Friday <br />Memorial Day <br />I ndependence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Eve <br />Christmas Day <br />Employee Discretionary Day <br /> <br />January 1 <br />Friday before Easter <br />Last Monday in May <br />July4 <br />First Monday in September <br />Fourth Thursday & Friday in November <br />December 24 <br />December 25 <br />Designated by Employee <br /> <br />If an official City holiday occurs on a Saturday, it will be observed on the Friday <br />before. If an official City holiday occurs on a Sunday, it will be observed on the <br />Monday after. <br /> <br />Shift personnel will observe official City holidays on the actual day of observance. <br />Regular full-time employees will be paid one workday's pay for each holiday. To <br />be eligible for holiday pay, the employee must work the scheduled workdays <br />preceding and following the holiday unless the Department Director approves an <br />excused absence. <br /> <br />Employees scheduled to work on a holiday, and who fail to work as scheduled, <br />without an excused absence, will not be eligible for holiday pay.
