<br />salary. Leaves of absence under this paragraph may not exceed 15 days in a <br />federal fiscal year. (Texas Government Code, Section 431.005) <br /> <br />Regular employees who present official induction orders (draftee or reserve unit <br />call up) to enter the United States Armed Forces, the Texas National Guard, or <br />the Texas State Guard will be eligible for military duty leave without pay. At the <br />time of military discharge, the employee shall be reinstated at a position <br />comparable to what the employee would have attained had he not been on active <br />duty. This shall include any promotions and/or pay raises for which the <br />employee would have been eligible had the employee been at work instead of <br />active duty. (Per Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights <br />Act 38 U.S.C. 2021 et. seq) <br /> <br />10. Bereavement Leave <br /> <br />The City will grant a maximum of 3 days bereavement leave per calendar year <br />for an ~mployee to attend the funeral of a family member including spouse, and <br />the following of either the employee or spouse: child, brother, sister, parents, <br />grandparents, or foster parents. Department Directors may approve the <br />employee's request to take sick and/or vacation leave in addition to the 3 days <br />bereavement leave as follows: <br /> <br />1. The first 3 days will be charged to bereavement leave <br />2. Days 4 through 6 may be charged to sick leave. Leave exceeding 6 days <br />will be charged to vacation. <br />3. Employees have the option to use vacation rather than sick leave for days <br />4 through 6 <br /> <br />11. Administrative Leave <br /> <br />Employees may be ordered not to return to work and placed on administrative <br />leave with pay when recommended by the Department Director and approved by <br />the City Manager. <br /> <br />12. Leave Without Pay <br /> <br />In circumstances not falling within other provisions of these rules, the Department <br />Director may authorize an employee to take leave without pay under such terms <br />and conditions as may be mutually agreeable up to a maximum of 2 calendar <br />weeks. Authorized leave without pay in excess of 2 weeks must be approved by <br />the City Manager. <br />13. FMLA Leave <br /> <br />The City offers FMLA leave pursuant to the provisions of the Family and Medical <br />Leave Act of 1993. Employees with at least 12-months of service, and who have <br />worked at least 1,250 hours in the last 12-months, may be eligible to take up to <br /> <br />Employee Policies Handbook/Page 27 <br />
