<br />RESOLUTION NO.2005- 06 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />SUPPORTING THE 2005-2006 CDBG GRANT FOR NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER <br />INe. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neighborhood Center Inc. strives to provide a family oriented program, <br />which provides services in the form of after-school care, summer care, and family referral <br />services to low and moderate-income families. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neighborhood Center Inc. provides children with positive experiences that <br />they need and deserve. Regardless of gender, ethnic heritage, economic situation or <br />geographic location, these assets both promote positive behaviors and attitudes and help <br />protect young people from many different problem behaviors. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neighborhood Center Inc.emphasizes Asset Building Activities, which are <br />40 qualities that students need in order to be successful in life. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neighborhood Center Inc.after-school students have a safe and enriching <br />environment. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the CDBG Funds provide academic assistance, enrichment activities, <br />prevention units, recreational and social opportunities, and strong family involvement. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, CDBG Funds have allowed certified art and music teachers to provide <br />excellent creative activities that these children would otherwise not have because of the <br />cost of their parents. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of La Porte, Supports Texas <br />Neighborhood Centers Inc. receiving the 2005/2006 CDBG Grant. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED, by the CITY COUNCIL on this, the 11 th day of April 2005. <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS <br /> <br />~G?~ <br /> <br />Alton Porter, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~()iJiJf{~ffi/ <br />MartHa Gillett, City Secretary <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />~ {Ir ~ ~4J J <br />Knox Askins, City Attorney ?/~ T. ~ <br />1/ . e/TY /17TY. <br />
