<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 88-9 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, business and commerce is the backbone of a <br />country, a state, a county, and a community; for it is through <br />business and commercial activities that goods and services are <br />supplied, manufactured, and sold, jobs are created so that <br />payroll is provided and taxes are paid so that roads, highways, <br />bridges, and schools can be built; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, in conjunction with the <br />Harris County South East Economic Development Council, wishes <br />to commend the industries and businesses of southeast Harris <br />County that, even in these difficult economic times have <br />continued to operate, continued to provide jObs, continued to <br />pay taxes, and have maintained a commitment to their customers, <br />employees, and this community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of La Porte: <br />Section 1. That the City of La Porte does hereby <br />recognize the week of April 25, 1988, as Business and Commerce <br />Week in the City of La Porte. <br />Section 2. That the City of La Porte supports the efforts <br />of Harris County South East Economic Development Council in <br />assisting area businesses to remain in the area, and to grow <br />and flourish, for the growth of area businesses will be <br />beneficial to our community as a whole. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this the 25th day of April, 1988. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />t!Lqmd~/?(A <br /> <br />or L.
