Council considered approving an Ordinance ordering a bond election, fixing the <br />time, manner for holding the election, establishing polling places and authorizing other <br />related matters. <br /> <br />Finance Directorl ACM Jeff Litchfield presented the summary and recommendation for <br />agenda item numbers 7 & 8 and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 98-2297 - AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN <br />ELECTION FOR THE ADOPTION OF A SECTION 4B SALES AND USE TAX AT <br />THE RATE OF ON-HALF OF ONE PERCENT (.5%> TO UNDERTAKE PROJECTS <br />AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 4B OF ARTICLE 5190.6, REVISED CIVIL <br />STATUTES, AS ENUMERATED. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 98-2298 - AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A <br />BOND ELECTION, FIXING THE TIME, PLACE, AND MANNER FOR HOLDING <br />THE ELECTION; ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES; AND, AUTHORIZING <br />OTHER MATTERS IN RELATION THERETO. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to ap,prove Ordinances 98-2297 and 98- <br />2298 as presented. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />9. Council considered approving and authorizing a limited use license agreement among <br />the City of La Porte, La Porte Independent School District and Phonoscope Fiberoptic <br />Services LTD. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns presented the summary and recommendation <br />information and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 98-2299 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING A LIMITED USE LICENSE AGREEMENT AMONG THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE, THE LA PORTE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND <br />PHONOSCOPE FIBER OPTIC CABLES TO SERVE THE LA PORTE <br />INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson to Ebow to approve Ordinance 98-2299 as read by <br />the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Griffiths. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />
