<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />June 2, 1997, Page 2 <br /> <br />Permitting. <br />Signs professionally made. <br />Have a licensed vendor place the sign out after 5:00 p.m. on Fridays and pick <br />up the before 8:00 a.m. on Mondays. <br />Signs to be placed in key areas of town during peek sales time. <br />Mr. Valentin thanked Council for their time concerning this matter and hoped they will give <br />this matter further consideration. <br /> <br />Joe Watkins, 111 Howald Court, La Porte addressed Council regarding a designated right-of- <br />way on Howald Court in Crescent Shores subdivision. Mr. Watkins brought to the Councils <br />attention that the property owner on the south side of the right of way on Howald Court has <br />built into the right of way. Mr. Watkins also provided Council with a letter and picture. <br /> <br />5. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE <br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION HELD ON MAY 31, 1997 <br />COrd. 97-2177) - K. Askins <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins informed Council that the Ordinance in their packet was a blank <br />Ordinance and before them is the report from the Election Officials declaring the results of the <br />Runoff Election. <br /> <br />City Attorney read AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF <br />ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON MAY 31,1997, FOR THE <br />ELECTION OF A COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 3; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve ordinance, 97-2177 as read by the <br />City Attorney. Seconded by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Council persons Sutherland, Engelken, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and <br />Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />6. ADMINISTERING OATH OF OFFICE FOR NEW COUNCILPERSON - Mayor Malone <br /> <br />Mayor Malone stated that Mr. Howard Ebow was out of town and that he will be sworn in on <br />Thursday June 5, 1997. <br /> <br />7. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION - Mayor Malone <br /> <br />Mayor Malone presented Councilman Chuck Engelken a certificate of appreciation for his <br />valuable service during his term on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Councilman <br />Engelken thank Mayor Malone and the Council for this Certificate. <br />
