TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION - AVIATION DIVISION <br />D. LA PORTE HARDWARE COMPANY 70TH ANNIVERSARY <br />E. NEW FIRE APPARATUS <br />F. PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION OF COMPOST - WEEK OF JUNE 2 <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns read a letter for new Councilman Howard Ebow and <br />reported on all the above events to Council and that clarification and or direction from Council <br />concerning Mr. Valentin's comments about signs would be greatly needed if Council does have <br />an interest. <br /> <br />12. Councilman Porter called for a clarification and recount of the vote on the Motion to table <br />Ordinance 97-2179. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone direction was to go back to item # 10 and take a vote again to Table this item. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell and Clarke <br />Nays: Councilperson Sutherland, Engelken, Porter and Mayor Malone <br /> <br />Motion was made to Mayor Malone by Councilman Porter to retire to an executive session. <br />Mayor Malone agreed. Council retired into an executive session at 6:47 p.m. <br /> <br />13. EXECUTIVE SESSION - PURSUANT TO PROVISION OF THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW, CHAPTER 551.071 THROUGH 551.076, AND 551.084, TEXAS GOVERNMENT <br />CODE, - (CONSULTATION WITH A'ITORNEV, DELIBERATION REGARDING <br />REAL PROPERTY, DELffiERATION REGARDING PROSPECTIVE GIFT OR <br />DONATION, PERSONNEL MA'ITERS, CONFERENCE WITH EMPLOYEES, <br />DELmERATION REGARDING SECURITY DEVICES, OR EXCLUDING A WITNESS <br />DURING EXAMINATION OF ANOTHER WITNESS IN AN INVESTIGATION) <br /> <br />A. SECTION 551.074 (PERSONNEL) <br /> <br />CONSIDER APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMISIONS, <br />AND COMMITIEES <br /> <br />Council retired into executive session at 6:47 p.m. under A) Section 551.074 (personnel). <br />Council returned to the table at 7: 13 p.m. no action taken on item #10 discussion only and will <br />go back to item #10. <br /> <br />14.
