<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 14, 1997 <br />1. <br />2. <br />Prior to calling the meeting to order Mayor Malone asked that Boy Scout Leaders Bill Ballard <br />from Troop 514 and Joe Brown from Troop 519 to bring forth the Boy Scouts. The Boy <br />Scouts aze Scott Ballard and Kenneth Ballard of Troop 514, Eric Brown, J.J. Gazish, and John <br />Joerns of Troop 519 to meet the City Council. Mayor Malone stated that these Boy Scouts aze <br />working on their citizenship merit badges. Councilperson Bob McLaughlin, Mike Cooper and <br />Guy Sutherland presented the Boy Scouts and their Leaders with City of La Porte Lapel Pins <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, Councilpersons Guy <br />Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob McLaughlin, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Alton Porter <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Attorney Knox Askins, <br />Acting City Secretazy Rhonda L. MARLiN FENN -FIRST UNITID METHODIST CHURCH <br />Reverend Marlin Fenn of First United Methodist Church delivered the invocation. <br />Councilman Sutherland stated that he visited Rev. Fenn's new Church dedication and expressed <br />how beautiful the Church is and urged the Council and Citizens to stop by and visit the <br />Church. <br />3. CONSIDER APPROVING MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING MARCH 24, 1997 <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the minutes of March 24. 1997. as <br />r en Seconded by Councilperson Clarke. The motion cazried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
