<br />MINUTES OF A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING <br />OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL AND <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />June 30, 2008 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Porter at 6:02 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Porter, Mayor Pro-Tem Clausen, Council <br />members Tommy Moser, Mike Mosteit, Louis Rigby, John Black, Chuck Engelken, and <br />Georgia Malone. <br /> <br />Absent: Howard Ebow <br /> <br />Main Street Advisory Board Members: Bill Manning, Jerry Carpenter, Eric Nelson, Ed <br />Matuszak and Mark Follis. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Howard Ebow <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: Assistant City Attorney <br />Clark Askins, City Manager Ron Bottoms, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Assistant City <br />Manager John Joerns, Planning Director Tim Tietjens, Downtown Revitalization <br />Coordinator Debra Dye and Building Official Debbie Wilmore. <br /> <br />Others present: Adam Yanelli of the Bayshore Sun, John Handy of the Houston Chronicle, <br />Phillip Hoot, Rhonda Lunsford, Patricia Clark, Sherman Moore, Dottie Kaminski, Paul <br />Larson, Kathleen Lemon, AI Ward, Stan Sherwood, Horace Leopard, Phillip Hoot, Ann <br />Malone, Mary Lee Jacks, Shar Bingham, and a number of citizens. <br /> <br />2. Discussion between City Council and the Main Street Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Mayor Alton Porter provided an overview and expressed the City's support of the Main <br />Street Revitalization efforts. <br /> <br />There was general discussion between the City Council members and the Main Street <br />Advisory Board Members. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the groups to continue moving forward with revitalization efforts. <br /> <br />Efforts will be focused on architectural design and building uses will be brought back in the <br />near future. <br /> <br />3. There being no further business the Special Called City Council and Main Street Advisory <br />Board Meeting was duly adjourned at 7:48 p.m. <br />
