PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS CITY COUNCIL <br />Citizen Darnell Harmon of 2210 Lomax Drive, La Porte, Texas, voiced his concerns <br />regarding flooding at his home and the storm sewer flooding in the Lomax area. <br />7. Council considered approval or other action regarding a resolution authorizing the City <br />Attorney to negotiate the acquisition of three tracts of land for the City's public golf <br />course. <br />Golf Course Manager Alex Osmond presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2002-26 - A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE <br />ACQUISITION OF THREE TRACTS OF LAND FOR PUBLIC PARK PURPOSES IN <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTNE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve a resolution authorizing the <br />acauisition of three tracts of land as presented by Mr. Osmond. Second by Councilperson <br />Ebow. T'he motion carried. <br />Ayes: Engelken, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Mosteit, Meismer, Ebow, Porter and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />8. Council considered approval or other action regarding a resolution authorizing the <br />acquisition ofrights-of--way for the construction of Bay Area Boulevard. <br />City Manager Robert Herrera presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2002-27 - A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE <br />ACQUISITION OF RIGHTS-OF-WAY FOR ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY PURPOSES, <br />FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BAY AREA BOULEVARD FROM <br />APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET NORTH OF SPENCER HIGHWAY TO <br />APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET SOUTH OF FAIRMONT PARKWAY, IN THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTNE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Griffiths to approve a resolution authorizing the <br />acquisition of ri is-of--way for the construction of Bay Area Boulevard as presented by <br />Mr. Herrera. Second by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Engelken, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Mosteit, Meismer, Ebow, Porter and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />9. Council considered approval or other action regarding an ordinance recommending that <br />the City of La Porte enter into an agreement with MBIA MuniServices Company for <br />review and recovery of Sales and Use taxes. <br />
