CHAPTER SEVEN <br />ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE POLICY <br />7.01 Attendance and Work Hours <br />Regular Work Hours - <br />An employee's normal workweek shall be defined based on their assigned position. <br />For employees assigned a 9/80 schedule, the workweek will commence at noon on Friday and <br />end on the following Friday at noon. Employees on this schedule will work 7:30 am — 5:30 pm <br />Monday — Thursday and 8:00 am — 5:00 pm on Friday with alternating Fridays off, and consist of <br />40 hours per work week. <br />For employees assigned a standard 40 hour work week, the normal work week shall begin on <br />midnight Sunday and end at midnight on the following Sunday, consisting of 40 hours per <br />workweek. The actual work schedule shall be assigned by the employee's supervisor. <br />Non exempt Fire personnel work a 24-hour shift based on a 28 -day, 212 hour work cycle. <br />In times of disaster or emergency, working hours shall be determined by the City Manager. <br />Adjustment to Work Hours- In order to assure the continuity of City services, it may be <br />necessary for Department Directors to establish other operating hours for their departments. <br />Work hours and work shifts must be arranged to provide continuous service to the public. <br />Meal Periods- Full-time employees (excluding most Emergency personnel) are provided a one- <br />hour unpaid meal period near the middle of the workday. Meal periods may be staggered by <br />the Department Director in order to minimize departmental interruption. <br />Attendance and Punctuality- To maintain a safe and productive work environment, the City <br />expects employees to be reliable and punctual in reporting to work. Absenteeism and tardiness <br />may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. In the instance <br />an employee cannot avoid being late to work or is unable to work as scheduled, the employee <br />must personally notify his/her supervisor as soon as possible of the anticipated tardiness or <br />absence in accordance with Departmental procedures. <br />0. <br />
