<br />The Drainage Study for Fairmont Park East was also reviewed by Mr. Struzick. The Consultant's <br />initial recommendation was to implement Alternative 3. Subsequent information now indicates a <br />recommendation incorporating elements of Alternative 3 and 4. Mr. Struzick will complete his <br />analysis and bring back a revised recommendation and cost estimate at the next Drainage and <br />Flooding Committee meeting. <br /> <br />A citizen offered Mr. Struzick some additional information and photos on Idlewood Street flooding. <br /> <br />5. Discuss Budgeted Cost of City Wide Drainage - R. Bottoms <br /> <br />City Manager Ron Bottoms provided the committee with an overview of the costs of the <br />projects and noted they will be discussed in the upcoming budget process. <br /> <br />Mr. Bottoms noted some of the funds will come from CBGD grants, issuance of certificate <br />of obligation and fund balance. <br /> <br />He noted that if issuances of certificates of obligation are too excessive it could result in a <br />tax rate increase. <br /> <br />The committee questioned staff as to whether or not the County and FEMA may help in <br />some of the costs. <br /> <br />6. Receive update on Brookglen Subdivision Future Buyouts - John Randolph with Harris <br />County Flood Control District <br /> <br />Mr. Randolph reported 18 homes have been purchased and two more are in the process <br />of being purchased. In addition, twenty six more homes may be purchased. <br /> <br />Mr. Randolph advised all people who are being considered for buyout have been notified <br />by the community outreach division of the County. <br /> <br />7. Administrative Reports <br /> <br />Receive reports from City Staff, Harris County Flood Control District and Harris County <br />Precinct Two regarding city drainage issues. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett informed the committee Public Works is in the <br />process of finishing projects on the south side of town. When those are completed they <br />will be moving on to the other planned projects. <br /> <br />Mr. Randolph provided the committee an overview of the flood control projects. <br /> <br />Precinct 2 representative is out of town and was not available to attend this meeting. <br /> <br />8. Set date for next meeting <br /> <br />The Drainage and Flooding Committee set the next meeting date for August 19, at 6:00 <br />p.m. in the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />9.
